Frequently asked questions
- Which format should I choose?
- JPG for photographs where small size matters. PNG when you need transparency or exact pixels, such as screenshots and logos. WebP for the web, where it is typically 25-35% smaller than JPG at similar quality.
- Why can nothing open my HEIC files?
- HEIC is the format iPhones use by default. It is efficient but not universally supported, particularly on Windows and older software — converting to JPG solves it.
- Does converting lose quality?
- Converting to a lossy format such as JPG discards some detail, and repeatedly re-saving the same JPG compounds it. Converting to PNG or TIFF is lossless.
